- Description: Essential Graphics tasks now use two panels. Find the current routes for text, graphics and MOGRTs, then recover a closed panel without losing a layout you want to keep.

In desktop Premiere version **25.0 and later**, open **Window > Properties** to [edit selected text and graphics](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-text-images/stylize-text/about-properties-panel.html?ref=premiereproclub.com). Open **Window > Graphics Templates** to [browse and manage templates](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-text-images/use-motion-graphics-templates/where-do-i-get-motion-graphics-templates.html?ref=premiereproclub.com).

If an older tutorial sends you to **Window > Essential Graphics**, translate the task before changing your workspace. The routes below apply to the Windows and macOS desktop editor, [Adobe Premiere, formerly Premiere Pro](https://www.adobe.com/products/premiere.html?ref=premiereproclub.com).

## Match the old instruction to the current panel

Read what the tutorial asks you to do after opening Essential Graphics. Graphics Templates finds an asset; Properties changes one that's already in the sequence.

| Task in the older tutorial | Where to do it now |
| ---------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Browse or install a Motion Graphics template | Graphics Templates. Installed templates appear under My Templates. |
| Change a title's font, color or styling, or edit a graphic | Properties, with the intended text or graphic selected. |
| Customize a MOGRT already placed in the sequence | Properties, with that template selected. |

[![Essential Graphics tasks lead to Graphics Templates for browsing and Properties for editing selected graphics.](https://storage.ghost.io/c/77/55/77555393-c1bd-4bdb-8b52-1f1199ed8675/content/images/2026/11/a19-a5dafa8ed66c-essential-graphics-panel-map.webp)](https://storage.ghost.io/c/77/55/77555393-c1bd-4bdb-8b52-1f1199ed8675/content/images/2026/11/a19-a5dafa8ed66c-essential-graphics-panel-map.webp?ref=premiereproclub.com)

Browse templates in Graphics Templates. Select your text or graphic before editing it in Properties.

An older installed version may still show Essential Graphics in its Window menu. If yours does, use that entry for a tutorial written for that interface. The [Window > Essential Graphics route in Frame.io's CC 2019 guide](https://blog.frame.io/2019/03/11/premiere-pro-essential-graphics-panel/?ref=premiereproclub.com) belongs to that older workflow. For version 25.0 onward, use the two current panels above.

## Open Properties and target the text or graphic

1. Open the sequence containing the title or graphic you want to change. Use [Window > Properties](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-text-images/align-and-distribute-objects/align-objects.html?ref=premiereproclub.com) to open its editing panel.
2. Select the intended text or graphic. Properties [changes its controls with the selection](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-text-images/stylize-text/about-properties-panel.html?ref=premiereproclub.com), so seeing video or audio controls is a reason to check what you selected.
3. For a title visible in the Program Monitor, right-click the title and choose [Edit Properties to reach its font, color and styling controls](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-text-images/stylize-text/create-titles.html?ref=premiereproclub.com). This is a direct route to the title when the controls you expected are missing.

A text element and a whole template clip are different targets. For a MOGRT already in your sequence, select the template and use the [Properties panel](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-text-images/use-motion-graphics-templates/add-motion-graphic-templates-to-a-sequence.html?ref=premiereproclub.com). Work with the controls that template supplies; they need not match the controls for a title you typed yourself.

[![Properties panel showing TEXT CONTROLS and a Source Text box containing Premiere Pro.](https://storage.ghost.io/c/77/55/77555393-c1bd-4bdb-8b52-1f1199ed8675/content/images/2026/11/a19-c294dd1b9cbc-a19-properties-template-text-owner130.webp)](https://storage.ghost.io/c/77/55/77555393-c1bd-4bdb-8b52-1f1199ed8675/content/images/2026/11/a19-c294dd1b9cbc-a19-properties-template-text-owner130.webp?ref=premiereproclub.com)

This template exposes Source Text for its wording. Another template can provide different controls.

If you have not made a title yet, [add text](https://premiereproclub.com/add-text-premiere-pro/) first, then return to Properties to style it. Opening a panel alone does not select the words you want to change.

## Open Graphics Templates for the template library

Choose [Window > Graphics Templates](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-text-images/use-motion-graphics-templates/install-motion-graphics-templates.html?ref=premiereproclub.com). Installed `.mogrt` files appear under **My Templates**. This is the browsing and installation side of the older Essential Graphics workflow.

The order still makes sense when following an older tutorial: find a template, place it on a video track, then adjust the placed graphic. Adobe's current instructions use [My Templates to place the template, followed by Properties to edit it](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-text-images/use-motion-graphics-templates/add-motion-graphic-templates-to-a-sequence.html?ref=premiereproclub.com). The library and the editing controls are now in separate panels.

## Recover a closed panel before resetting the workspace

Check the symptom first. The old name missing from Window in version 25.0 or later is the migration described above. Properties showing unexpected controls calls for a selection check. If you cannot see the current panel, use the [Window menu to open the panel](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/get-started/tour-the-workspace/navigate-the-panels.html?ref=premiereproclub.com) again.

I'd check the selection before resetting a workspace, because Properties follows the selected item.

If you want to recover the wider panel arrangement, save a layout worth keeping before switching or resetting workspaces. **Reset to Saved Layout replaces the current arrangement with the original saved panel layout.** Adobe documents both saving and resetting in its [workspace instructions](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/get-started/tour-the-workspace/change-create-reset-workspaces.html?ref=premiereproclub.com).

1. With a project open and your current arrangement visible, choose **Window > Workspaces > Save as New Workspace**. Give it a name and select **OK**.
2. Choose the workspace you want from **Window > Workspaces**. For this task, **Captions and Graphics** is a useful option: Adobe's [Captions and Graphics workspace overview](https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-text-images/insert-captions/about-captions.html?ref=premiereproclub.com) shows both Properties and Graphics Templates alongside Text, Program Monitor and Timeline.
3. If that workspace's arrangement still needs restoring, choose **Window > Workspaces > Reset to Saved Layout**. This restores that workspace's saved arrangement; it doesn't bring the former single Essential Graphics panel back to a newer version.

[![Window Workspaces routes: Save as New Workspace keeps the current arrangement; Reset to Saved Layout restores the saved arrangement.](https://storage.ghost.io/c/77/55/77555393-c1bd-4bdb-8b52-1f1199ed8675/content/images/2026/11/a19-2be722a724f3-a19-workspace-save-reset-owner130.webp)](https://storage.ghost.io/c/77/55/77555393-c1bd-4bdb-8b52-1f1199ed8675/content/images/2026/11/a19-2be722a724f3-a19-workspace-save-reset-owner130.webp?ref=premiereproclub.com)

Save an arrangement you want to keep before resetting a workspace to its saved layout.

With the right panel visible, select the intended title or template and make your change. Start playback just before the graphic appears and watch until it ends, checking its wording, position and timing against the shot. If the next move is to give those words motion, [animate text](https://premiereproclub.com/animate-text-premiere-pro/) after that check. For subtitles and the rest of your on-screen text, the [captions and titles guides](https://premiereproclub.com/tag/captions/) cover the next jobs.
