How to import a MOGRT file into Premiere Pro
Install a MOGRT into My Templates, place it above the shot and edit the controls its author supplied. Check fonts, duration and After Effects requirements when a template will not work.

To import a MOGRT into Adobe Premiere (formerly Premiere Pro) on the desktop, open Window > Graphics Templates, use Install Motion Graphics template, and open the saved .mogrt file. Find it under My Templates, drag it onto a sequence video track, then select the clip to edit it in Properties.
A Motion Graphics template is a packaged graphic created in Premiere or After Effects, with controls for customizing it in Premiere. Installing puts it in the template library. Placing it on the timeline makes it part of your edit.
Install the downloaded file in My Templates
Have your project and sequence open, and locate the actual .mogrt file. If the download came inside an outer archive, follow the creator's instructions to unpack that delivery and keep the .mogrt itself intact. Check the original creator or vendor, license and listed requirements. Skip repacks bundled with cracked plug-ins.
- Choose Window > Graphics Templates.
- Select the Install Motion Graphics template icon in the panel's upper-right corner.
- Navigate to the saved
.mogrtfile, select it and choose Open. - Switch to My Templates and find the installed template. The file is now in your template library, ready to place in the sequence.
Adobe's installation steps cover My Templates. For several files, bring Finder on macOS or Explorer on Windows beside Premiere, keeping My Templates visible, then drag the selected .mogrt files into that tab. A template already stored in your accessible Creative Cloud Libraries doesn't need a separate local installation.
If your lesson uses Essential Graphics, follow the current panel split. From version 25.0, Graphics Templates handles template browsing, while many former Essential Graphics editing controls live in Properties.

If you need another design, Adobe Stock is available inside Graphics Templates. The Info icon beneath a thumbnail gives details and an animation preview. Check the asset's license before using it: dragging a Stock template to a sequence can be a licensing action.
Place the template and set its timing
For an overlay lower third, use this example stack from top to bottom: V2 template, V1 footage; A1 sequence sound. Choose an overlay design for this arrangement rather than assuming every template is meant to sit over picture.
In Graphics Templates > My Templates, choose your installed template and drag it onto the chosen video track. For the overlay arrangement above, place it on V2 over the relevant shot, starting where the graphic should appear.
I'd settle the entrance and exit before styling the words, because the graphic has to fit the cut before its type treatment matters.
Select the template clip and drag a trim edge to change its playing time. Set its start and finish against the shot, then watch the entrance and exit. A longer clip bar alone doesn't tell you whether the animation now has the timing you need.
Some After Effects templates use protected animation regions. When that design is present, those regions keep their duration while the unprotected parts retime. Don't assume every MOGRT has protected intro and outro animation. Adobe also documents an exception for AE compositions containing audio: they don't stretch adaptively in Premiere. Check picture and sound after changing the length.

If the template cannot deliver the timing you need, ask its creator for a suitable version. For an AE-authored MOGRT, Adobe also documents opening it as an After Effects project and re-exporting it after editing. That is source editing, a separate job from installing the template in Premiere.
Edit the controls the template provides
- Select the template clip in the timeline and open the Properties panel for its customization controls.
- With the playhead over the graphic, adjust the colors or animation choices that the template supplies. Check them against the shot in the Program Monitor.
- Replace the sample wording and check its line breaks over the actual footage.
The available text, color and animation options depend on the template. For an After Effects template, only the controls exposed by its author are available in Premiere. A missing font selector or animation setting can be a design limit, even when the file installed correctly.

Read the replacement text over the actual footage. Check long names, line breaks and contrast, then play across the graphic's entrance to see whether the words remain readable while they move. Repeat those readability checks as you finish the other titles and captions in the sequence.
Fix the specific import or editing problem
The installed template is not visible
Return to My Templates and check the search text and filters. Graphics Templates can filter results by local templates or libraries, so your current view may exclude the item you installed. Broaden that view and search for the template before installing more copies.
If the search still comes up empty, open the folder that holds your local templates. On macOS it's ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Motion Graphics Templates; on Windows, C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Motion Graphics Templates. Both paths run through hidden folders, so press Cmd+Shift+Period in Finder, or turn on Hidden items in the View menu of File Explorer. No .mogrt there and no copy in your Libraries? Install it again with the Install Motion Graphics template icon. Leave the install text files Premiere keeps there alone.
It shows Media Offline just after placement
Adobe notes that a newly placed template can appear offline until it finishes loading. Let loading complete before diagnosing a missing file. If it stays offline, I'd run three checks in this order: look for a missing-font warning (covered below), confirm whether the template needs After Effects installed, then install the original .mogrt again with the Install Motion Graphics template icon and place that fresh copy. If none of them clears it, send the creator the exact message and your Premiere version.
A font is missing, or there is no font menu
These are different checks. A missing-font warning calls for the named family and style to be available on your computer. Adobe's font guidance requires a font to be installed locally or added through Adobe Fonts. Fonts from Adobe Fonts are added through Creative Cloud desktop and then appear in application font menus.
A font menu that the template never offers is a separate limit. In an AE-authored template, the designer must expose font selection and size controls. Adding a font doesn't add a control the designer withheld. Ask for an editable variant if the supplied controls cannot make the required change.
The template requests After Effects or rejects the import
Some MOGRTs require After Effects to be installed for customization; Adobe also documents templates that work without that installation. Use this template's requirements and the exact message to decide what it needs. Obtain any required app or plug-in from its official vendor under the appropriate license.
For a remaining import or version error, compare your Premiere version with the creator's stated requirements and request a compatible file. Keep the original download and the error wording. A template-specific compatibility problem needs that evidence before you change the editing setup.
Finally, play from before the graphic appears through its exit. Read the finished wording, watch the animation clear the shot and listen to any sound the template contains. If the supplied design cannot make the move your edit needs, animate text with your own timing instead.
